Mein liebes gutes Frauchen! 

Du wirst wohl nun schon Post von mir erhalten haben.

Viel kann ich in meinen Briefen nicht schreiben, aber meine Gedanken sind immer bei dir. Mein liebes Gretel mach dir keine Sorgen um mich, auch die Zeit wird einmal kommen wo ich wieder bei dir sein kann, glaube mir ich habe große Sehnsucht nach dir.

Die Zeit vergeht nun auch ganz gut, wir gehen die ganze Woche arbeiten, und Abende, wenn wir frei haben treiben Sport.

Nun wirst du vielleicht auch Post von mir erhalten haben, schreibe mir auch gleich wieder damit ich bald Post von dir bekomme, auch schicke mir noch ein liebes Bild von dir mit. Hast du schon Geld bekommen? Habe hier auch einen alten Arbeitskameraden von meinen alten Betrieb getroffen.  Für heute sei recht herzlich gegrüßt und geküsst von deinen Heinz. Grüße an alle.

My dear good little woman! You will probably have received now already post of me. A lot I cannot write in my letters, but my thoughts are always with you. My dear Gretel do to you no worries about me, also the time will come once where I can be again with you, believes me I have big longing for you. Now the time also passes quite well, we go the whole week work, and evenings, if we freely have do sport. Now it become maybe also a post of me…..

My father was in Camp Austin. He is Heinz Lindner. He was born in 1921 in Chemnitz, Germany. The place of Chemnitz lies in the south of Germany in the federal state of Saxony. Heinz was 23 years old when he is straight in American captivity. My father came in the July after in Normandy (Caen) to captivity.

Some months before he had married on a home vacation. Next year,
thus God wants, our parents will celebrate the party of the diamond wedding (60th Wedding Anniversary) and we want to provide a kind of newspaper for the parents. Our father has reported to us only good about America. By the division of Germany and the allocation to the Soviet occupied zone, it was never possible for us to reach in information. Now by the Internet completely new ways open. Our father is quite happy about that point.

With the dedication of this book we speak, in the name to camp-associated of the P.O.W. Campes Austin, the commander of camp, Mr. Hauptmann A R L I E G. B E L C H E R and its staff, the acknowledgment for the fact out that we felt during our stay in Austin, fair and impartially treated this album are a joint venture work. Worked at him the following comrades with: Manfred Dubielzig, Josef Ettinger, Alois Gabriel, Harry seize, Rudi Kahlig, Paul Kels, Georg Kreuser, Franz vest, refuge Laeuffer, Helmut Nagel, Rudolf judge, Kurt of Roenne, Siegfied juice, Heinz sander, Hans Sankowsky, George Schardt and Heinz Sohenera. The FAMILY MORGAN did not let be taken it to us this memory to print and some photos attach, as out pressure of their acknowledgment for our performed work into their enterprises.
